Ovid

A picture of the author Ovid

The Roman poet, Publius Ovidius Ovid (43 BCE - 17 CE) was known simply as "Ovid" and lived during the reign of Augustus. He wrote a collection of Mythological narratives from ancient Greece and Rome titled The Metamorphoses of Ovid. The work is organized in seven books with fables and explanations in each; it imparts a huge amount of information across a range of subjects involving the tradition, manners, and customs of antiquity. It is often studied in high school grades 9-10. We discovered a surprisingly timeless sentiment attributable to Ovid:
"If you want to be loved, be lovable." Right on, Ovid!
